Department Speak:
At SCMSophia, it has been business as usual for students this year: interview a celebrity in their first week in Mumbai, go to the beat area--assigned keeping the distance from the student's residence and comfort zone in mind - the farther the better! Not just go there, but interview the local MLA/ corporator, then visit the police station and find the oldest resident of the area. Create video reports, vlogs, ads, book reviews, 5000 word articles, multi-media stories; manage events, work on live projects, make documentaries, fiction films, and make 200 images to boot! So how long is the term at SCM? A good 10 months!
As if this wasn't challenging enough, we have the new bogey in the form of AI! Will it help the students or hurt them? How do we integrate it at SCM? How do we ensure that the students learn to use it effectively rather than being used by it
As usual, it is our unmatched faculty that pushes the students into learning the difference between professional and student behavior. To get them in shape so the industry says, ‘Ah SCM graduate! Welcome aboard’ without any further questions.
The pandemic has created a surreal world, but the students have emerged from it to create the remarkable 36th edition of Marginalia. We have shared glimpses of the portfolio-full work the students have done through the year. We encourage readers to share their work widely and to support these talented students as they pursue their goals.
Warmly,
Nirmita Gupta
